2023 Clarice Pinot Noir, Rosella's Vineyard
"Tasted from tank as an assembled blend before bottling, the 2023 Pinot Noir Rosella’s Vineyard is a deeply spiced, floral, mineral-driven red. Tight and tannic, the 2023 is a sleeping giant right now, expressive as all get out on the nose but wound up like a ball of rubber bands in the mouth. Time, time, time. (Drink between 2027-2037)" -Jeb Dunnuck, 93-95VM
The first impression is this is one of the darkest colored Pinots we have seen while it has beautiful rose aromas. The first perception on the palate is surprisingly intense tannins (which comes from Philippe’s winemaking style). Once the tannins mellow out with some breathing, you are rewarded with a dark, rich Pinot with flavors of white pepper, tea, meat, leather, roses, salinity and red fruit.
While we encourage you to age this wine for at least several years, we encourage you to taste it soon (with a good decanting if you can) in order decide if you want to add more to your cellar because it won’t last. Drink now through 2033.
