SEA SMOKE 

At Sea Smoke they believe that the vineyard is the wine. For this reason, they produce Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grown exclusively on their estate vineyard in the heart of the Sta. Rita Hills appellation.They focus on the meticulous management of each vine to achieve ideal vine balance and very low yields, while incorporating sustainable, environmentally sound, organic and biodynamic farming practices. Ten different clones of Pinot Noir create wines of exceptional complexity and grace – each one, they believe, a reflection of the unique terroir of their estate vineyard.

"Intensely ripe but pristine black cherry and plum notes are kissed with glimmers of brandy and cigar leaf in this concentrated yet brightly composed Pinot Noir. It's a powerful, gorgeously juicy mouthful with a heft and unctuousness that's pleasing, but sharply balanced too, taut with a quivering vein of cranberry acidity and layers of stone and earth that unfurl on the palate. Compared to the producer's fresh-fruited Southing, the Ten embraces Pinot's stateliness, muscularity and grip. A richly extracted yet fine, chiseled wine anchored by bristling streaks of acidity and a tonic mineral undertow. Hints of singed vanilla and char point to 16 months maturation in French oak (68% new) but it's a profoundly elegant, seamlessly balanced wine with a finish marked by fine, firm tannins.
