WALT WINES
A project by winery proprietor, Katherine Hall, who is best known for her cult Napa Cabernet. She now sources small amounts of Pinot Noir from some of the top vineyards along the West Coast, from the Willamette Valley to the Sta Rita Hills, all with the aim of crafting single-vineyard, small lot Pinot Noirs under the Walt label.
"The 2022 Pinot Noir Clos Pepe is medium ruby-hued and has an expressive nose of ripe black raspberries, leafy herbs, and ample, peppery, spicy nuances. It's balanced, medium-bodied, has a pure, elegant mouthfeel, and ripe tannins. (Drink between 2024-2032)" Jeb Dunnuck 92JD
"The 2023 Pinot Noir Conspiracy of Ravens is a very savory, old-school Pinot Noir with depths of herbal character. The 50% whole clusters are far out in front, but it works. Tobacco leaf and iodine add nuance to the bright cranberry fruit and salty acidity. The 2023 a broad, open-knit style that's unashamed in its stemminess. (Drink between 2025-2032)" -Vinous, 93VM
"Stone fruits, chalky minerality, oyster shell, and mint all emerge from the 2023 Chardonnay Sta. Rita Hills, a vibrant, medium-bodied Chardonnay offering bright acidity, a pure, seamless mouthfeel, and a great finish. It's another classy, impeccably made wine that has tons of class and character. Aged 16 months in 23% new puncheons with the balance in used oak and tank, it's best enjoyed over the coming 5-7 years. Drink 2025-2032. (Drink between 2025-2032)" -Jeb Dunnuck, 94JD
"Very rich aromas of black cherry compote and French toast spices are very comforting and inviting on the nose of this bottling. Firm tannins wrap around the black cherry, cola and toasted herb flavors of the creamy palate. " -Matt Kettmann, 94WE
