2022 Paul Lato Pinot Noir, 'Seabiscuit', Zotovich Vineyard
"Looking at the Sta. Rita Hills releases, the 2020 Pinot Noir Seabiscuit Zotovich Vineyard has a complex bouquet of spiced red berry fruits as well as forest floor, loamy earth, baking spices, and some sea-like brine and iron nuances. Beautiful on the palate, it's tight, structured, and focused, with medium to full-bodied richness, present tannins, and a great finish. It needs a year or two, but this is brilliant juice. (Drink starting 2023)" -Jeb Dunnuck, 96+JD
One of Santa Barbara County's most storied producers, for more than 2 decades Paul has been crafting some of most lavish and refined wines along the Central Coast. A master at coaxing all of the perfumed aromatics of his Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Rhône productions, his true talent lies in putting those genies back into the bottle on the palate, combining the decadence of the grape on the nose with the quiet power of site in the glass. A master.
