2022 OLG Chardonnay, Our Lady of Guadalupe Vyd
"The 2022 Chardonnay Our Lady of Guadalupe shows just how compelling Chardonnay can be in the Sta. Rita Hills. It emerges from a single block planted with Wente clone Chardonnay. Wonderfully dynamic in the glass, the 2022 shows off all its allure with plenty of citrus, mineral and floral notes that fill out the layers. This textured, wonderfully vibrant Chardonnay is positively stunning, especially considering this is the third harvest here. I am not at all surprised that some acreage is already being converted from Pinot to Chardonnay. This is a fabulous wine by any measure. I tasted the 2022 just prior to bottling. Aging is nine months 50% new oak, 30% neutral barrels and 20% tank. (Drink between 2024-2031)." -Vinous, 92-24VM
"These are the first wines from Dave Phinney’s new Our Lady of Guadalupe vineyard on the western side of the Sta. Rita Hills. This large, 125+ acre ranch has attracted significant attention, even though the vineyard has just started to produce a crop, and with good reason, it is a stunning location. The 2021s are incredibly impressive wines for such a young site. As always, Phinney’s wines are all about textural intensity and volume, both of which these new releases have in spades." -Antonio Galloni
