"The 2022 Fiano di Bocca di Lupo is a model of purity, with a vivid blend of fresh pears and apples elevated by a whiff of chamomile, white flowers and flint. This is graceful yet complex, almost oily in texture, with a saline tinge up front that gives way to nectarine, apricot and lime. It leaves an enriching note of hazelnut on the finish, maintaining a wiry and youthfully tense frame as a salty flourish resonates and a refreshing note of chlorophyll lingers on. The Fiano di Bocca di Lupo is a wine of contrasts. What a beauty. (Drink between 2025-2032)" -Vinous, 94VM
"The 2023 Guado al Tasso, composed of 44% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Cabernet Franc, and 26% Merlot, pours an opaque purple/red hue and is somewhat reserved on opening before revealing layered aromatics of graphite, plum, ink, and dark cocoa. Full-bodied, it’s lush and polished, with velvety tannins, supple richness, and a seamless texture throughout. Despite challenges with peronospora earlier in the season, the harvest conditions allowed for excellent fruit quality. This is a strong, balanced vintage with the structure to age gracefully. Drink 2027-2050." -Jeb Dunnuck, 97JD
"Kirsch, rose petal, pomegranate, exotic spices and mint are woven together in a fabric of notable class in the 2011 Tignanello. An exotic wine that captures the essence of the year, the 2011 is endowed with magnificent complexity, nuance and class. The silky, polished finish makes the 2011 incredibly appealing today, but the wines from this site have always aged very well. The 2011 is going to need time to shed some of its baby fat, but it will always remain extroverted and racy to the core. I can't wait to see how the 2011 ages." -Vinous, 95VM
"The 2023 Tignanello pours a saturated, youthful red/purple hue and is deeply layered and expressive, with pure aromas of black cherry liqueur, fresh blackberry, lavender, forest herbs, polished cedar, and fresh earth. Full-bodied, it floats across the palate with supple, approachable fruit that beautifully balances the structure. A refreshing spine of acidity, refined, even tannins, and a long, seamless finish give the wine both precision and length. Composed of 80% Sangiovese, with the balance Cabernet Sauvignon and increasing amounts of Cabernet Franc (which adds lift and verticality), this is a vintage with the backbone to age for decades while already offering immediate appeal. It’s long, luxurious, and beautifully balanced. Drink 2027-2057." -Jeb Dunnuck, 97JD
"An opulent and graceful full-bodied wine with a pleasing mix of plush stone fruit, citrus and citrus peel. The aromas are beautiful and decadent, with baked citrus, pastry crust, wet stones and white flowers. Nice concentration and tension on the palate, with cleansing acidity and a very long finish. Delicious now, but built to age." -James Suckling, 97JS
"The 2023 Pinot Noir Silice is layered and seductive, showing black raspberry liqueur, wet stones, toasted spice, cardamom, and black cherries. “Silice” means silica, and this wine comes from forest blocks planted in 2001 on the site with the highest sand content in the soils that they work with. The structure is remarkable, fine, and floating on the palate, with refreshing acidity and an angular, well-defined, gravelly texture to its tannins, which is highly appealing and reminiscent of Nebbiolo in its structure. Drink 2027-2047." -Jeb Dunnuck, 98JD
"Extraordinary complexity – there's a sense of the divine here – not least through the miracle of how this wine has matured through all those years. There are sweet spices, varnish, caramel and really delicious pear fruit as well. Long, long and long. A full museum collection of flavour, all in one glass. (RH) (Drink between 2024-2067)" -Jancis Robinson, 19.5/20JR
James Suckling's #1 Wine in Argentina (Sept 17, 2025)
"So linear and driven, with so much tension and intensity. Aromas of sliced apples, lemons and stones. Medium-bodied with flavors of apples, seashells, lemons and crushed stones. It goes on and on. Matured in 30% amphorae and 70% oak. Fantastic. Drink or hold." -James Suckling, 97JS
"I was totally blown away by the wines I tasted from Conti...one of the historic names in the tiny Boca appellation. Conti crafts beautifully pure wines that faithfully capture the personality of the region. The entry-level Origini...[is] terrific, while the flagship Boca is truly stellar. Readers will not want to miss these wines." - Antonio Galloni
"An amazing 2008 rosé Champagne that has all the structure and aromatic complexity - sushi ginger, oolong tea and caramelized mandarin orange - we associate with this vintage, but also has more charm than most. On the palate, this sparkling has stunning concentration, yet is diamond bright. The interplay of creaminess, fine tannins and mineral acidity builds and builds at the breathtaking finish. The color comes from about 7% pinot noir red wine, partly from the little-known Les Riceys in the far south of Champagne. Drink or hold." -James Suckling, 98JS
"Chiara Boschis made some of the most thrilling wines of the vintage. Her 2019s are positively stellar. The 2019 Barolo Mosconi is the most potent of the three Barolos in the range. It exudes Monforte darkness and virile intensity from the very first taste. Black cherry, plum, mocha, sage, tar, lavender and spice infuse the 2019 with tons of character. This is one of the most elegant wines I have ever tasted from Mosconi, a site that does not naturally lend itself to finesse. (Drink between 2027-2044)" -Vinous, 98VM
[#7 Wine of 2024] "Boasting great depth and extreme elegance, the drop-dead gorgeous Ciacci Piccolomini Pianrosso delivers crushed raspberry, succulent Morello cherry, star anise and crushed mint flavors while aromas of eucalyptus, wild rose, new leather and forest floor continuously lift out of the glass. It’s a smooth, stunning wine, with taut, fine-grained tannins and fresh acidity that lend great aging potential and energy. Absolutely stunning." -Kerin O'Keefe, 100KO
[#10 Wine of the Year 2025] "The compelling Conti Costanti 2021 Brunello captivates with pronounced aromas of fragrant purple flower, eucalyptus, Mediterranean brush and perfumed berry. All about class and extreme finesse, the elegant palate delivers succulent wild raspberry, crushed Marasca cherry, spiced orange zest and star anise set against a backbone of fine-grained tannins. Fresh acidity lends balance and great intensity. Year after year Andrea Costanti turns out what are among the very best wines from Montalcino, and the 2021 is no exception, it’s an absolute stunner with great aging potential. Drink 2031–2046." -Kerin "O'Keefe, 99KO
"Based on 79% Cabernet Sauvignon and 21% Cabernet Franc and aged 23 months in 50% new French oak, the 2023 Collina offers up juicy, bright Bing cherries, cassis, graphite, and chocolate. It's medium to full-bodied, with beautiful purity, balanced richness, good mid-palate density, and ripe tannins that flow to outstanding length. This is always a beautiful, solid wine that's well worth its going rate and will drink well over the coming 10-15 years." -Jeb Dunnuck, 93-95JD
"Velvet-lioned tannins manage to have the power to hold on to teeth and palate. A majestic red that comes in with a roar, gentled by its poise and presence. The blend of 76% Cabernet, 15% Cabernet Franc, and 6% Petit Verdot exhibits notes of graphite, violets, blackberry, tobacco, and coffee bean. It’s power levels off to a refined, harnessed purr for an ideal finish." - Tasting Panel 99TP
"The 2023 Chablis 1er Cru La Forest is nothing short of superb in bottle and ranks among the year's most authoritative wines. A pure, marine-inflected opening—iodine, lemon peel and oyster liquor mingled with beeswax and dried apricot—precedes a concentrated yet tensile palate of taut muscularity. Bright acidity and abundant chalky extract lend the wine a bracing, kinetic edge, culminating in an intensely saline, persistent finish. Dauvissat here once again affirms its status as one of the site's greatest interpreters." 96WA
"Dave’s Painted Scars 2022 is fully loaded—bursting with kirsch, violet pastilles, sweet oak spice, and crushed red rock volcanic minerality. Full-bodied and plush, it shows daring tannins and a long, dark-fruited finish. The blend of 70% Grenache and 30% Syrah comes from old vines planted in the foothills of the Pyrenees Mountains, straddling the border between France and Spain. The label, from Dave Phinney’s Department 66 project in Maury, France, features artwork taken from a page in a 19th-century anatomy book. Mexican tattoo artist Dr Lakra (Jeronimo Lopez Ramirez) used microfibre brushes to apply his distinctive tattoo designs to the man’s skin. Phinney, a long-time admirer and collector of Dr Lakra’s work, selected the image for its arresting detail—you could easily get lost in the owl’s eyes or the woman’s steady gaze on the figure’s right forearm. The same is true of the wine itself: it pulls you in with hypnotic intensity and holds you there with depth, texture, and raw beauty. (Drink between 2025-2033)" -Decanter, 94DE
"Lighter purple, a more herbaceous nose but in a pleasing way, 100% whole bunch. Savoury strawberry with some herbs, good acidity and fine length." -Jasper Morris, 90-92JM
"The 2022 Moulin du Duhart is plump, juicy and super-expressive right out of the gate. Cabernet Sauvignon speaks with great eloquence. Dried herbs, lavender, spice, tobacco and licorice make a strong opening statement. Medium in body and pliant, the 2022 is impressive. This Merlot-driven Pauillac is quite the charmer. (Drink between 2025-2037)" -Vinous, 92VM
"The 2022 Trebbiano d'Abruzzo (Italian Release) is wonderfully floral and intense, with a burst of lemon peel, ginger, freshly sliced nectarines and an enriching hint of raw almond. This sweeps across the palate with silken textures and ripe orchard fruits nicely lifted by a core of saline minerals and exotic citrus. It finishes incredibly long and fresh, leaving a tactile staining of primary fruit, yet cleans up beautifully as the palate is left perfectly refreshed for another sip. (Drink between 2024-2030)" -Vinous, 92VM
"The 2023 Chenin Blanc Jurassic Park is one of the best domestic Chenin Blancs I’ve encountered. Varietal notes of honey, yellow apple, orange oil, chalk and wet wool are unashamedly Chenin. The 2023 feels almost toothsome—something you can really grab ahold of and sink your teeth into. It’s a style I find wildly appealing. (Drink between 2026-2031)" - Vinous 94VM
"The 2023 Saint Romain La Perrière comes from an exchange of fruit from an organic producer (I quickly worked out who and you could too from my report!) This has a taut nose that's a little backward at first, opening nicely with green apple and Conference pear. The palate is well balanced with gorgeous peach skin and light orange pith notes, a fine bead of acidity and a poised, generous finish. This is really what white Burgundy does so well. It's unpretentious, utterly delicious and probably better value than most. (Drink between 2025-2032)" -Vinous, 90-92VM
"The Lola Pinot Noir is a wine from Gap’s View, a 28-year-old vineyard tucked into the windy Petaluma Gap. Those fierce breezes here toughen up the grape skins and give the wine some real backbone, while the alluvial soils keep things lively with a streak of minerality. The 2023 is one of Failla’s more serious Pinots this vintage, leaning into a darker, moodier vibe: juicy plums, black cherries, and ripe blackberries layered with a perfume of crushed violets, clove spice, and a wet-stone earthiness. At 13.8% alcohol and with plenty of bright acidity, it manages to stay fresh and lifted even with all that depth." - Decanter, 95DE
"These vines are planted very close to the domaine’s Puligny Champgain, but there is much more influence from the wind in the Dents de Chien. The nose shows both some reduction and a little almond paste, with excellent tension. Discretion and generosity with a firm mineral undercurrent, clearly a hillside wine but which village? A long complex and classy finish. Drink from 2028-2034. Tasted Oct 2024." -Jasper Morris, 92-95JM
"Pale colour, with a discreet intensity. Becomes more floral, a little bit of honeysuckle. The fruit flows very evenly across the palate, on the cusp between white and yellow, with a lovely juicy yet also mineral finish. Very stylish. Drink from 2028-2035. Tasted Oct 2024." -Jasper Morris, 92-95JM
"Pale lemon. This has the nobility above the others, immediately evident on the nose, without any undue generosity. The balance between fruit and stones is impeccable, a saline touch, a little bit of roasted stones, with excellent balance and persistence. Drink from 2028-2035. Tasted Oct 2024." -Jasper Morris, 94-96JM
[#18 Wine of the Year 2025] "The compelling Conti Costanti 2021 Brunello captivates with pronounced aromas of fragrant purple flower, eucalyptus, Mediterranean brush and perfumed berry. All about class and extreme finesse, the elegant palate delivers succulent wild raspberry, crushed Marasca cherry, spiced orange zest and star anise set against a backbone of fine-grained tannins. Fresh acidity lends balance and great intensity. Year after year Andrea Costanti turns out what are among the very best wines from Montalcino, and the 2021 is no exception, it’s an absolute stunner with great aging potential." -Kerin O'Keefe, 99KO
"The bright red 2021 Barolo Conteisa is highly expressive and ramps up the volume on the nose. It makes a statement with its aromas of wild spice, redcurrants, cherries, ripe tannins, and intense ripe orange fruit. It has a lot of clarity but offers dramatic intensity and completeness, with mouthwatering acidity, angular tannins, and a fantastically long finish. Flirting with perfection, this is an exceptional wine all around to return to over the coming decades." -Jeb Dunnuck, 99JD
"A plush Champagne, with focus to its flavors of white cherry, blood orange pith, salted Marcona almond and pastry cream. Chiseled acidity drives the spice- and mineral-laced finish. Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier. Drink now. " -Wine Spectator, 92WS
"Served from the 500 ml bottle, the apricot-golden colored 2003 Vouvray Clos du Bourg Moelleux Première Trie offers a beautifully deep, intense, concentrated and at the same time precise, fresh and refined fruit aroma of fully ripe and cooked peaches along with refreshing lemon and spicy/mineral flavors on the nose. On the sweet and fruity, highly elegant, balanced and finesse-full palate, there is a gorgeous precision, freshness and piquancy that leads to a correspondingly precise, piquant and salty finish that is simply great and almost unrivaled. This 2003 is one of the greatest, because it's the finest and most balanced Moelleux of this tasting, and if I had to draw a comparison it would be to the 1959 and the 1945." -Wine Advocate, 98+WA
