Dark purple in color with aromas of ripe raspberries and spicy herbs, the ‘21 is viscous and supple. The mouthfeel expresses vibrant flavors of strawberry, rhubarb and black cherry, while tannins are plush, smooth and balanced by vibrant acidity. A mix of limestone and marine-based soils, added to the extreme proximity of the Pacific Ocean’s cooling air through fog and wind makes the Sta. Rita Hills one of the most unique and compelling appellations for growing Pinot Noir in all of California. Grapes were harvested in the early morning to ensure the fruit’s cool temperature. We cold soak the berries to draw color and develop flavors while elevating structure. Unfined and unfiltered.
“So ethereal as to cushion the palate, with flavors of strawberries pulled from sweet soil. Cinnamon and a tickle of white pepper accents this delicate soul, delivered with focused acidity." -Tasting Panel, 94TP
"Light ruby-hued, the 2021 Pinot Noir Sta. Rita Hills offers a solid mix of savory cherry, framboise, and red currant-like fruit as well as some loamy earth, rose, and orange blossom-like nuances. Playing in the medium-bodied, mid-weight, yet elegant and seamless end of the spectrum, it's perfect for enjoying over the coming 4-6 years or so." -Jeb Dunnuck, 92JD
