2013 Sea Smoke Pinot Noir "Southing"
"Sea Smoke might be the single most evocative vineyard in the Sta. Rita Hills, maybe all of Santa Barbara. The huge, sprawling ranch offers breathtaking views pretty much in every direction. General Manager Victor Gallegos has streamlined the Pinot lineup to essentially two wines; the Southing, which is generally floral and bright in profile, and the deeper, richer Ten bottling. The Pinots are made from fully destemmed fruit and spend around 16 months in barrel." - Antonio Galloni
The only 'cult' Pinot Noir and Chardonnay producer in the Central Coast, Sea Smoke focuses on the meticulous management of each vine to achieve ideal vine balance and very low yields, while incorporating sustainable, environmentally sound, organic and biodynamic farming practices. Ten different clones of Pinot Noir create wines of exceptional complexity and grace – each one, they believe, a reflection of the unique terroir of their estate vineyard.
