The 2023 Moretti Rosé of Cabernet Sauvignon from Crown Point was just the beginning of a surprise we have been planning for months. One of the region’s greatest producers per Jeb Dunnuck (“I don’t think anyone does Bordeaux varieties in the Central Coast better”), we spent the Spring tasting with winemaker Simon Faury to land on a blend that best captures the power and finesse of the estate. Mixing 20% Cabernet Franc with 80% Cabernet Sauvignon from the estate’s hillside blocks allows the cocoa nib and blackberry fruit to shine, with fruity layers of tannin lingering on the palate minutes later at a resounding finish. Moretti is dedicated to producing small-lot, well-balanced, food-friendly wines in a European tradition - meant to be paired with food. Our background and wine experience comes from the old world, and we strive to produce similarly styled wines using excellent Santa Barbara County grapes. We are lucky enough to have three of the finest winemakers in our AVA, Paul Lato, Crown Point Vineyards and Steve Clifton, make our releases, providing our customers with the chance to taste 'Cru' productions at 'Village' prices.
