Sea Smoke's newest creation, Botella, is named after the mineral-rich soil type found on its Estate Vineyard and other exceptional vineyards of the Sta. Rita Hills. Botella’s grapes are sourced from vineyards adjacent to the Sea Smoke estate, most notably Fiddlestix, Sanford & Benedict and Our Lady of Guadalupe. The Chardonnay captures the glow of the coast and the stillness of the fog-draped hills. Quietly complex and effortlessly elegant, it is crafted with the same thoughtful precision that defines every Sea Smoke wine, but features stainless steel fermentation with minimal new oak. Fresh stone fruit aromas with a complex palate of Meyer lemon, caramelized figs, pie crust, and cardamom spice.
The only 'cult' Pinot Noir and Chardonnay producer in the Central Coast, Sea Smoke focuses on the meticulous management of each vine to achieve ideal vine balance and very low yields, while incorporating sustainable, environmentally sound, organic and biodynamic farming practices. Ten different clones of Pinot Noir create wines of exceptional complexity and grace – each one, they believe, a reflection of the unique terroir of their estate vineyard.
