Kitá Wines, Santa Ynez Valley

Founded in 2010, Kitá Wines is a small, premium winery located in the heart of the Santa Ynez Valley within the Santa Barbara County AVA (American Viticultural Area). The word "Kitá" means "Our Valley Oak" in the Santa Ynez Chumash native language of Samala. Like the valley oak, our wine highlights the gifts from Mother Earth and embodies the spirit of the Santa Ynez Valley. We focus on respecting the balance of soil, climate, location and taste. With a total case production of around 2,000 cases, Kitá wines are crafted using sustainable methods and a blend of old world and new world winemaking techniques. All of the wines have been harvested by hand based on a balance of chemistry and taste to preserve the highest quality. Our wines are produced in small batches aiming to have minimal manipulation and maximizing varietal characteristics.

The seasons, changes of the land, and language of nature all speak to us. We have to listen; they are a vision of balance between our surroundings and ourselves. The earth is our mother. She nourishes us, that which we put into the ground she returns to us...

2013 Kita' Pinot Noir, Hilliard-Bruce Vineyard

A medium garnet colored wine with aromas of cherry cola, rose petals, exotic spices, vanilla, and undergrowth. The taste is elegant, yet powerful, with beautiful floral and berry flavors reminiscent of cranberry, raspberry, and cherry. This is followed with deep, underlying layers of minerality. The purity and balance of this wine portrays hints of spice and cedar that coats the tongue with great acidity in the mid-palate. Integrated oak and deep, rich earth highlights the beautiful fresh fruits of the cool growing region that finishes with smooth, rounded tannins.
