2009 Sea Smoke Pinot Noir "Southing"
"The 2009 Southing is a coiled-up, red-fruited, muscular Pinot. The nose is compact with whispers of cherry, vanilla, sweet cedar, herbs, and a pronounced iron-like mineral note. Muscular, with powerful beams of tannins, a firm backbone of grippy acidity, and a finish marked by dark chocolate, mint, earth, and conifer. (Drink between 2023-2035)." -Jonathan Cristaldi, 95DE
Sea Smoke focuses on the meticulous management of each vine to achieve ideal vine balance and very low yields, while incorporating sustainable, environmentally sound, organic and biodynamic farming practices. Ten different clones of Pinot Noir create wines of exceptional complexity and grace – each one, they believe, a reflection of the unique terroir of their estate vineyard.
